Safety Around Water
Congratulations to the group of students from R.H. Dana Elementary for successfully completing our Safety Around Water program.
When the weather turns warm, everyone wants to be in or around the water. Hanging out at the pool or the beach on a hot day is a great way to beat the heat. Between having fun and relaxing, most people don’t think much about water safety — but they should. For people between the ages of 5 and 24, drowning is the second leading cause of accidental death. Most water-related accidents can be avoided by knowing how to stay safe and learning a few simple skills like how to float, how to jump to the side of the pool, and how to tread water.
40 kids and their families are now safer and more prepared to enjoy time around water thanks to this important program and the aquatics staff at the Mission Viejo Family YMCA!
